Sweepstakes Trophy
Number 39 in
the line of march, turned out to be a very lucky number for the Burbank
Police Boys' Band last Saturday in the City of Lynwood's first annual Championship
Review.
The band brought
home the Sweepstakes Trophy that stands five-feet, nine inches tall, and
acclamation from the Southern California All American Band and Drum and
Bugle Corps Judges, announcing the Burbank Police Boys' Band to now be
the Southern California Champions.
The band is sponsored
by the Burbank Parks and Recreation Department. In the absense of
band director David Roberts, Morgan White was acting director for the day.
Special commendation
was given the band's drum major and banner carriers. Bill Kuzma,
drum major, was judged as Excellent and advised by the judges to try in
the individual competitions. The banner carriers, headed by Ellen
Nicholson, assisted by Lori Seltzer, Helen Hess and Diane Grant also were
given an Excellent. |
